Tidal Power

Video of the manufacture and installation of an offshore power generation system that is currently in operation. This is one of the things that Ocean Engineers do.

That design is single stage. I imagine a multi-stage ducted fan, each subsequent stage requiring a lower flow relative to the same output. Higher efficiency and nominally the same support structure. One of the books I inherited from dad illustrates a system very much like that shown in the video. The book was published in 1964 by Woods Hole.

In any case, cool beans. We've been given all that we need if we jut learn to use it wisely.

NFO: In the mid 80s I attended a conference on autonomous undersea vehicles. One major concern then was battery life. Looks like this eliminates that problem. At the conference, I was the only oil and gas guy there and I tried to convince some of those guys that they had an immediate market in oil and gas.
